“This is a song I wrote lyrically to remind myself not to dwell in the dark places of my past but to take a step of faith into the light each day I walk this Earth. Lots of intricate guitars and drums that will bring you to a unique atmosphere called, The Shade.”
These are the thoughts on the latest single ‘The Shade’ from The Finite Beings lead singer Michael Nicholas. The Shade arrives on the heels of their previous release ‘The Virus’, which as of this printing is flirting with over 80k Spotify streams! Where The Virus contemplated the state of the world after the pandemic arrived, The Shade looks inward to take us on a journey of faith by always searching for the light ahead of us, and in true The Finite Beings fashion, it is a true juxtaposition of both the darkness and light.
The Finite Beings current lineup consists of Michael Nicholas (Vocals, lyrics, and drums), Donny DePaola (Guitars), and Hunter Kino who handles not only guitars but brings his production skills to the table. When I say that The Shade is a beautifully crafted song I mean it. This song has moments of Alice In Chains meets Pink Floyd meets A Perfect Circle, and Hunter has proven to be a great addition to the band.
When first hearing The Shade one might think that it is a somber sound, but when it comes to the way that The Finite Beings create a song it is often the lyrics that bring the light needed, so listen well when you hear this song as the lyrics are truly meaningful and created with serious intention. The solo is hauntingly beautiful, the bridge is both simple and effective and exactly what it needs to be to carry the song into the thoughtful ending.
The Shade is, at its core, an alternative-grunge-rock track that would find itself comfortably among the greats of the 90’s era, but it has been updated for 2021. It is no stretch to expect this song to reach the numbers that The Virus has reached with its catchy delivery and the growing awareness for the band itself.
The Shade is set to be released on May 4th/2021 and those interested can keep up with the band through their website www.thefinitebeings.com
