The Wake Up! Music Rocks family is filled with some serious diverse talent, and with Adam Albright (Dopesick) they have been running strong in both the charts and streaming grounds. With the release of his latest heartfelt alt-rock single ‘Take me’, Adam captures something truly special within this emotional anthem of a song, and if you weren’t a fan before, you will be soon.
Take Me instantly makes me think of such acts as Foo Fighters, Smile Empty Soul, Incubus, and Dramarama, a comparison that, to me, should be seen as the biggest of compliments. I must admit that I wasn’t aware of Dopesick until recently, but man am I seriously happy to have been exposed to this artist’s music. Adam Albright knows how to make a catchy-as-hell song, and more to the point, he get’s what it takes to make a song worthy of listening to. Great music: check. Killer vocals: check, and lyrics that hit you right in the feels: big check!
As an artist myself I have always enjoyed great juxtapositions in art. The push and pull of two sides working together to create something harmonious is exactly what Adam pulled off with this new song of his. On one side of the coin this song is quite dark in its message, and a feeling of losing hope despite the act of trying not to fills each line, but then on the other side of the coin it is an upbeat, surf-city, sound that makes you feel good just to be alive. All of this adding up to a song that just, and pardon my French here, it just fucking, rocks.
After a bit of research on who did the mastering of this solid track it was none other than the legendary Ted Jensen who worked on some artists you may have heard, does Green Day, Alice In Chains, and Evanescence ring a bell? Recorded by the very talented Patrick Burkholder at the Pawn Shop Studios in Van Nuys and produced by the highly credited Eddie Wohl whose previous acts include Fuel, Smile Empty Soul, and Anthrax to name an impressive few. It is clear to me that Adam Albright knows the power to be found in surrounding yourself with the right people.
Take me is a great song through and through, and no doubt will gain a large amount of attention for this artist.
