For all those jaded listeners proclaiming that rock is dead, I present to you my case that it is not, and the first piece of evidence I am going to share with you is the incredibly infectious new single Lifeline from 2023 Josie awards rock band of the year, New Munster, Wisconsin locals, and Wake Up! Music Rocks, hard-rock act, The Almas.
Chances are, you may have already heard of The Almas, considering the massive success they captured in 2023 with their singles Crowns, Burnout, and Cage. If you have not yet heard of them then let me welcome you to the fast-growing family!
The Almas are known for their crushing sound and beautiful vocals, add in award-winning levels of production and you get a cinematic experience every time they release a new song, and Lifeline stays the impressive course as we have come to expect from The Almas. That being said, Lifeline does feel as though it has the mission statement to show you just what The Almas are capable of producing, as well as pulling out all the stops to offer you a song that can fit right in with bands like Linkin Park, Paramore, Ice Nine Kills, Falling in Reverse, and Bad Omens.
I cannot stress how well produced this song is, and as a self-proclaimed audiophile I must say that Lifeline’s mixing should not be understated. After listening to this song more than ten times in a row now, I have focused on the different layers that make up this beautiful track and every single instrument and vocal track are given their place to shine without overstepping the others. This song is crystal bloody clear.
The guitar riff on Lifeline is instantly catchy-as-hell, while the drums and bass-lines are thunderous, but its those vocals that rise above it all this time around, and I have no doubt the lyrics are going to reach some listeners right in their moment of need. Dare I say that I believe that Lifeline may very well offer a lifeline to some its listeners. It’s just one of those undeniable singles that feels so real and empowering that it must have been nothing short of a cathartic act for these talented musicians.
I have had the pleasure of listening to every song that The Almas have put out, and they never miss. They understand how to make a great song that travels through the heart of the listener and Lifeline is, to me, their greatest achievement yet. It is a song that I will be listening to and sharing often, and considering the bands advocacy for mental health awareness, I would ask you to share their new single as well.
