Well now, what do we have here? Possibly one of the best new heavy bands of 2023. Within seconds of hearing New Orleans, LA-based hard-rock/metal band Transient’s new EP ‘Lotus’ you just stop the song and go back to the start, this time turning it up past eleven. This is a band with exceptional quality in their sound and a perfect blend of heavy and melodic. It is cinematic, dramatic, emotionally driven, and exactly what I wanted to discover today.
Seed is the opening track of this powerful three song ep, and is so ‘djenty‘ and crushing, but also beautiful, much like another band I love called Tesseract. Seed feels like a mission statement, as awakening, a song that demands the listeners attention and points it towards something important. All the pieces fit in a great juxtaposition with one another, brutal heavy guitars, drums and low growls met with inspired vocals that feel as if it could unravel at any moment.
Following in the footsteps of Seed is the fittingly titled track ‘Sow’ and it does not disappoint. I need to be real here, I am so emotionally moved by this song that I am tearing up a bit as I write this, and I don’t care if you think that is weird, great music has always hit me differently. Sow is one of those songs that feels at home with my soul, it is an unexpected find from a band that could easily rise above obscurity through how passionate listeners are going to be about this one. If you have read this far then please stop reading and go listen to this song right now, don’t wait any longer to experience a song as killer as this.

Well, I am back to tell you that Transient has managed to make a perfect three-single EP.
The most aggressive track on the single is called ‘Thrive’ and it is fucking epic. At this point what can I really say but “Well done Transient, well done!”
This is a band that deserves to be heard and shared, and there is no way they won’t be having a stellar music career if they hit their stride with their marketing and social media game (because whether we like it or not, that is how people find music these days).
My final thoughts on Transient’s brief masterpiece is that for those who enjoy heavier music with beautiful vocal lines and depth, this is an album you will need to listen to immediately. For a three song EP it hits bloody hard and all I want is another seven songs to add to this, because you can never have too much great music.
